This 18650 nickel strip is a 1 metre length of 0.12 mm thick, 5 mm wide nickel-plated steel strip for joining lithium-ion cells into battery packs. Its thin, flat shape suits spot welding, which connects cells without the cell-damaging heat that soldering can cause. Makers, repair technicians and DIY battery builders use it to link 18650 cells in series or parallel and to attach BMS wires and tabs. It is best for low-current packs and projects. For high-current packs, choose thicker, wider strip.

Use this battery nickel strip to build small lithium-ion packs from 18650 cells, repair existing packs and connect cells in series or parallel. It also works for low-current BMS tabs and for hobby projects such as small power banks and LED supplies. It needs a spot welder to join cleanly. For high-current packs such as e-bike batteries, use thicker, wider pure nickel strip or copper busbars instead.
No. It is nickel-plated steel. Pure nickel has lower electrical resistance and does not rust, but it costs more. A simple check: a magnet sticks strongly to plated steel, and only weakly to pure nickel.
It is intended for low-current connections only. The cross-section is just 0.6 mm², and nickel-plated steel carries less current than pure nickel of the same size. For packs that draw high current, use thicker and wider pure nickel strip.
Spot welding is recommended. Soldering holds heat on the cell for several seconds, which can damage the cell's internal separator. If you must solder, keep contact very short.
Settings depend on your welder, so start low and test on scrap strip first. Clean the strip and cell terminal with isopropyl alcohol, make two welds per terminal about 3–4 mm apart, and tug-test each weld. If the strip burns through, reduce power.
Nickel-plated steel can rust if the plating is scratched or the strip stays damp. Store it dry and keep finished packs away from moisture.
