This DC 3–5V X9C103S Digital Potentiometer Board Module is designed for Arduino and other microcontroller projects. The X9C103 module works as a digitally controlled potentiometer (XDCP), allowing precise resistance adjustments through a simple three-wire interface.

Inside the module, a resistor array, wiper switches, control section, and non-volatile memory work together to provide stable performance. Unlike mechanical potentiometers, it offers digital control, ensuring accuracy and repeatability. Moreover, the wiper position can be stored in non-volatile memory and recalled automatically during the next power-up.

The module divides its operation into three sections: the input control, counter and decode section; the non-volatile memory; and the resistor array. The input control acts like an up/down counter, which then decodes its output to switch a point on the resistor array to the wiper. In addition, under the right conditions, the counter saves its position to memory, retaining settings for future use.

The resistor array consists of 99 resistors connected in series. Between each element, and at both ends, electronic switches link specific tap points to the wiper output. Consequently, the module ensures smooth voltage adjustment, making it ideal for fine-tuning signals in Arduino projects and digital circuits.
