Description:
The BT-168D is a compact digital battery tester that helps you check the remaining power level of standard and rechargeable household batteries. Moreover, it operates without its own batteries because it draws power directly from the battery under test. As a result, you get a convenient and reliable tool for everyday battery checking.
Supported battery types:
The BT-168D is compatible with a wide range of common household batteries.
- 1.5V batteries: AA, AAA, C, and D
- 9V batteries: PP3 and other compatible types
- 1.5V miniature cells: Includes various button-type batteries
How to use the BT-168D:
- For 1.5V batteries: First, place the positive end of the battery on the designated contact point, and then position the negative end against the adjustable sliding arm. Next, push the sliding arm forward so it holds the battery firmly in place. Finally, make sure the battery stays steady for an accurate reading.
- For 9V batteries: Connect the positive and negative terminals of the battery to the two pins located at the top of the tester.
- Read the digital display:
The large LCD screen instantly shows the power level. It displays the results in voltage and categorizes them into three levels.- Good: The battery has sufficient power.
- Low Power: The battery is weakening and should be replaced soon.
- Replace: The battery is drained and needs to be replaced or recharged.
- Keep testing time short: To avoid draining the battery unnecessarily, test for only a few seconds.
Tips for usage:
- Make sure the battery’s positive and negative terminals stay in firm contact with the tester’s contact points to get an accurate reading. Otherwise, if the screen does not light up, the battery is most likely completely dead. Moreover, while the tester shows a voltage reading, it mainly indicates the battery’s charge level rather than giving a precise measure of overall capacity. As a result, you should not rely on it for detailed capacity testing. Furthermore, when rechargeable batteries display a “Replace” reading, try recharging them first. If that fails, then replace them instead. Finally, following these steps ensures accurate results and extends the usefulness of your batteries.
